Adding pictures by using links
-
Hey guys,
I wanted to add some pictures to my blog. Therefore I want to upload the photos to a image hosting website so that I can use the pictures multible ways, sending them to my friends too without needing to upload them to other pages like facebook or the like.
But now my problem; when I add a link to the picture using the picture tool it shows an image saying “site don’t allowed” intead of showing the picture I uploaded to that site…
It used to work just fine but now it doesn’t anymore…
It’d be awesome if you could help me out here.
Thank you! -
Is this the process you are using?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/#from-urlIf you’re having a problem uploading images, please check if your image file is and accepted file type http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/ and is properly formatted. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/troubleshooting-images/ You may also want to try some browser troubleshooting tips http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/h/browser-issues/

What image hosting site are you using? It could be that you have some kind of privacy settings that you need to change before the site will let the image be visible outside the site.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/#from-urlyes it is.
The pictures should be the right file type and format since it already worked and I could see them.
Is it possible that it’s forbidden by wordpress to use an image hosting site to include pictures in ones blog?I’m using http://www.pic-upload.de/
But like I said, it worked before and I didn’t change any settings so I don’t understand it … -
Can you give us a link to one of your images on that site so we can test with it?
WordPress has no issues with images being hosted elsewhere and then inserted into sites here, which is why we have the “from URL” option.
-
I have a number of images in my blog that are hosted elsewhere.
It sounds as though that image (the “site don’t allow” or whatever the actual message is on the image) is being sent from the image hosting service in place of the image you want to post. (Something similar happens when an image is moved or deleted from photobucket — photobucket substitutes an image that says the image has been moved or deleted by its owner.)
-
What is the actual message that appears on the image? The original (in German/auf Deutsch is fine) — since “site don’t allow” doesn’t sound like it’s quite the right translation.
-
I just uploaded a picture to pic-upload.de and then posted it in a new post on my test blog, and it loaded fine.
Are you sure you’re using the correct link provided by pic-upload? You need to use the final link of the ones they provide, what they call the “Direktlink für Originalgröße.”
Here’s the link to the image I uploaded, if you want to play with it and test it:

That’s what I thought too, but it’s actually what it says ;)

I first tried that link but then the “error picture” showed up so I used their html code saying “Bild in Originalgröße für Webseite” since I thought they maybe don’t want me to use the direct link…

You are trying to link to a page not an image – that site behaved like a spam pig and they don’t let you grab the image info with a right click – it looks like you might need to download the image then upload it if you want to use images from this site.
-
This, http://www.pic-upload.de/view-10927432/IMG_0045–Individuell—Individuell-.jpg.html , is not an image URL. That is the page at that site that the image is shown on. You have to right click on the image and then copy the URL of the image, which is this, http://www8.pic-upload.de/04.08.11/typt2rbdilyw.jpg . That is what you put into the image by URL field here.

You can see that image on my test blog: http://flippintestblog.wordpress.com/2011/08/06/dot-de-image-test/ .

Morning @TSP
That site does not want to let me right click on the image for the image info with my box stock Firefox – opens a pop-up then a new window and such – real ugly behavior – but when I mouse over the image I can see the image info, but for me I would need to write down the info then type it into the right box – guess I am missing something –
-
I right clicked and copied the URL just fine. If I click on the image then the lightbox thing activates and you cannot get the URL if the lightbox thingy comes up.
-
Yes, I can get the pic of the Sydney opera house url by right-clicking, as well. If I left-click, I get a pop-up of it, and I can also right-click that image to grab the url.
I have to say, this is one of the odder image-hosting sites I’ve ever seen — you don’t have to have an account, but if you don’t remember the url for the image (or the page w/ the image in it), you’re out of luck in trying to use the image again later.
-
And I just use Firefox 5.0 with no special add-ons for saving images or for copying urls.
-
Guess the site just does not like me – tried again and had extra pop-ups and other poor behavior. Oh well.
-
Oh, that’s weird. In Safari I have no problems, but I get the lightbox popup when I try to right click on Firefox 5. I do also get the contextual menu so I can still “copy image location” but still this is weird.

I only see the error picture there as well …
you don’t have to have an account
You don’t have to have one, but you can ;)
It’s definitely not a site I’d want to use on a regular basis.
Well, I just use it because it’s easy to use plus I haven’t found any other sites that offer a better service. They all delete pictures after a certain time when it hasn’t been downloaded.
But if you have better alternatives you can always tell me ;)
