Adding Pictures/Media

Adding Media- I click the Add Media button and yet it does nothing. I am trying to upload pictures to my BLOG as I do every day. I dont know why it won;t work now. I also got some odd statement about needing to be added by an ADMIN. I am the ADMIN.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – There was an issue with the Add Media button, but this should be fixed now. However, because of that error message you’re seeing, this might be something different. Can you please double-check that you have third-party cookies enabled in your browser:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

If that doesn’t fix this, can you please make a screenshot of the error message you’re seeing? Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload it to your blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

I am not getting the ADMIN message at this time, but am still not able to upload any photos. When I click on Add Media nothing at all happens. I checked the cookies and they are allowed for Third Parties. I have been working on this all day. I dont know what to do. I just know people are waiting for these pictures. What can I do? Is there a way you can reset everything on your end?

  • Hi there – Can you please try one more thing? Please try adding media in an alternate browser, such as Firefox, and let me know if you have the same problem. You don’t have to switch to Firefox permanently; this is just to help us narrow down what to troubleshoot. Thanks for your patience as we look into this!

  • Hi there – I lied, one more thing. ;) Additionally, in Chrome, can you please go to the screen where you are unable to click the Add Media button and do the following:

1: Use the keyboard shortcut Control+Shift+J
2: Select View > Developer > JavaScript Console.
3: If there are errors/warnings the console will displays a red icon along with the message text, which is colored red.

Please copy paste the content of that and post it in this thread. Thank you!

Okay, first of all, why do I have to ha ve a verification code sent to my phone EVERY time I sign in now?
AS FAR AS I EVEN GOT WAS CNTL+SHIFT+J, which I did in “New Post” because that is where I add media pictures. That was it and I got the following down bottom, were it cut the screen into a top and bottom section. This is all it said:
event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead.
    InterYield Click Bind version 1.0-SNAPSHOT.5,066 20131212-1132 clickbinder.do?ver=1.0-SNAPSHOT.5%2C066:1
‘KeyboardEvent.keyLocation” is deprecated. Please use ‘KeyboardEvent.location’ instead.

  • Hi Lil – The verification code is because you elected to have two-step authentication set up on your account:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

This is a very good idea, as it’s highly secure, but if you want to turn it off, you can do so in this way:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/#disabling-two-factor-authentication

Thanks very much for checking the error console. We’re still looking into this issue, and I’ll let you know when I have more information. Do you have the same problem adding media to a new post here:

    As you do here:
