Good day,
I am trying to add information to me child page but whenever I do, the information appears under the parent page and deletes what I had originally under the parent page.
I don’t understand how that’s possible. A parent page and a child page will have completely separate and unconnected page editors. Adding content to one can not possibly result in the addition of content to the other.
However, the title of this topic, “Adding post directly linked to child page,” suggests some confusion between posts and pages. A post can not be added to a static page. Are you referring to a custom menu? Or category and subcategory pages? The menu of the site https://virtueorientedwives.wordpress.com/ includes no child pages, posts, or category pages. Are you referring to that site?

Hi,
Its virtueorientedwives.org…I have no idea where that other site came from. Apologies. Not a post but under “About” there is the sub heading “my family”. I am trying to add information under “my family”

Thanks for that information. The URL http://virtueorientedwives.org/ is not that of a WordPress.com site. WordPress.com sites are fully hosted by WordPress.com, whereas this site has a different host. This forum is solely for issues regarding WordPress.com accounts and websites, so it isn’t the proper forum for addressing your issue.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different versions of WordPress, with separate support forums. See the WordPress.com and WordPress.org support page.
If http://virtueorientedwives.org/is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, then please resubmit your request to the WordPress.org support forums. If you haven’t already done so, you can register here: https://wordpress.org/support/register.php, to use the WordPress.org support forums.

Though this is not the proper forum, I’ll tell you this much. The menu item “My Family” is linked to the “About” page. You can’t create a page by adding a menu item, because the menu can only include links to existent URLs.
If you would like to create a child page of the “About” page, then you may do so. Once you’ve created the child page, then you should change the link URL of the “My Family” menu item so that it links to the child page.

The URL of the “My Family” page, if it is a child of the “About” page, will be something like http://virtueorientedwives.org/about/my-family.
The URL of the “My Journey” page, if it is a child of the “The Virtues” page, will look something like http://virtueorientedwives.org/thevirtues/my-journey.
