Adding Posts to a Specific Page
-
Hello,
I have been trying to add posts to a specific page for over three months now, and I still am not able to.
Please help. This is beyond frustrating…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi !
Why would you want to add posts to a page ? If you want to categorize your articles in different sections, you’ll need to use categories. You can learn more about them here : http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
Once you have made all the categories you need, add them in the menu instead of the pages you made. You can follow the instructions here : http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Hope it helps !

Hello Fracis Bob,
I set up an individual “Category” as suggested. Then created a post, marked the corresponding category box, and pressed Submit.
And…nothing. The posts are still going to the main page.
I have done this at least 100 times now to the same result… -
Hi majorstyles,
I see that your two new posts are in sports and culture, so the categories were made properly. However the categories are not visible in the menu, you need to add them yourself, they won’t go automaticly.
As for the front page, by default it is showing all of the articles. If you want to modify this behavior, you need to select a new front page for you website. You can do this by going to Settings -> Reading and selecting front page displays ..

@majorstyles
Every one of these is a static page and must be replaced with a dynamic category page.
Books
Culture
Masculinity
Sports
Travel
Once the category is assigned to one published post that post will display on the dynamic category page as will all others assigned to the same category.(1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog.
(2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we bloggers create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page and have your published posts display on another page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ but doing that does not change what follows.
Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
Setting up a menu is easy as pie, provided you know the differences between Posts and Pages, and the differences between static Pages, (which will never automatically update) and dynamic Categories pages which will automatically update when you publish Posts with Categories assigned to them.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.
