Adding RSS feed but…NOT in sidebar

I searched and found no threads on this specific topic, my apologies if I missed it.

I want to add an rss weather feed to my blog/site here at wordpress.com. But rather than in the sidebar, I want to create an entire page on my site that contains the rss feed. I have the code (provided by accuweather) for a 500×440 pixel footprint feed.

When I post the code snippet (in html view) into my weather page, I get the framework, but without data. I am guessing it is because I need to use the rss widget? Which is only allowed on sidebars?

Is there away around this limitation? I was considering playing with the sandbox template and making the “main” page very narrow (perhaps less than 10 pixels) and the “sidebar” very wide (all but the few pixels in the “main” page).

Before I head down that road, I thought I should stop and ask, “Is there an easy and already existing solution?”

You can’t normally autopost content to a WP.com blog. What you might want to do is use the Weather Pixie, which will give you this info; it gives you code to put in a widget, but you can put it in a page if you want. What’s happening with what you’re using is: it’s got Javascript and it’s stripped out.

Ahhhh. Javascript is not welcome. Thank you Raincoaster.

I am in the Dominican Republic (500 yards from the border with Haiti) and most weather sites don’t offer weather for anywhere near. And even 50 miles away can be vastly different due to the mountains and proximity to the ocean. For instance, when the several hurricanes hit the island this summer, all we got here was a lot of rain and one night with wind gusts 20-30 mph.

So when I found a weather site which *did* have local weather and nicely presented to boot, it instantly became the answer for my blog.

I am thinking accuweather has more than one way to get the info to a web page. I’m stubborn enough to fight with this some more before I give up on it, so hopefully I’ll find a way to make it happen.

Is javascript not welcome at all – not even in the widgets section?

    (sigh) ah well.

This is one instance where blogger.com has functionality that wordpress lacks. But on whole WordPress is much better for my tastes and needs. So here I’ll stay.

I’ll put in an enhancement request and hold my breath. Ok, maybe I won’t *really* hold my breath. ;)

Somebody figured out a way to add an RSS feed to a page using a certain off-site widget but I can’t remember the name of the widget right now so I can’t hunt for it.
