Adding Rss or email subscription to body of Blog
-
I prefer the RSS subscription or a means to subscribe in the body of the text as I only want a text menu footer. Any suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Widgets can only be installed in sidebars and/or footer areas designated for them to be in depending on the theme. They cannot be installed on pages or posts.

Hello. I’m a LONG time eBay seller and brand new at blogging. If I want my newly-listed eBay listings to automatically post to my blog, what do I do? What do I use? Would that be SEO? Or RSS? (I only know how to write these acronyms – not really sure what they stand for or what they do!) But I want to make a Valentines Cards blog of the beautiful Valentine cards I have on eBay.
Collection Selection Valentine Cards
Thank you for any help!

OK, thank you. But what would be the purpose of a blog if not to draw people to your items for sale, etc. If corporations and other small businesses can draw people and in essence, “advertise” their name and/or products, then why wouldn’t I be allowed to do the same? Especially if I decide to pay $99.00 for the service. Any thoughts?

You are assuming that the only purpose for a blog is to hawk your wares. The vast majority of blogs are not used for that. They are places where people write about stuff in life and news and create all sorts of content that has nothing to do with lining their pockets with change.
If people want to have a blog that’s sole purpose is to drive traffic to where they are selling their bits and bobbles, they can self-host a wordpress installation. The differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org (self-hosted) sites.
Here is my standard copy/paste for threads asking about advertising. Review the links and contact staff and ask them about your ebay RSS feed. They are one only ones that can say yes or no, but if what if the sole purpose of the blog is to drive traffic to your ebay store to sell your stuff, that will not fly here.
User advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under “Affiliate marketing blogs” in the bottom set of bullet points in the “types of blogs” link below.

It is not my “sole” purpose to drive traffic to my store. I really only want to showcase my old Valentine’s cards because I think they’re cool AND would like to see more people collect them (thus buy them). I do have 530+ items in my store, but I’m only looking to publish the Valentine’s aspect (for now, with the holiday fast approaching). That is only 10% of my whole store. I don’t know. I think I might give up already. This is getting deep whereas I thought my blog was going to be “simple 1-2-3” the way they said in the WP 101 video. Oh well.

You need to contact staff and explain things to them and get them to tell you yes or no.
You won’t know until you ask.

OK, I will, in due time. For now I’m just trying to set up a page. Some might think it’s easy but it’s a tedious, time-consuming, confusing task for me.

What I meant was that I am not attempting to add any RSS, etc. right now. Just working on the page layout — playing around w/ colors, etc.
I’m amazed that there were so few themes and backgrounds to choose from. The video said there were thousands, and then when I came to the actual site it say “hundreds”. I only saw 161 themes and not a single one was holiday-related. Not even one valentine’s or heart or romantic, or anything!
I’m amazed that I can’t even use small letters in my header – they make me use all caps unless I want to pay $30 for fonts! OMG!

Perhaps given your plans and responses to our WordPress.com reality your will be better served by simply hiring a web host and setting up your own self-hosted WordPress.org install. See here for clarification > WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences

Thanks. Going to check out the link now. So if I decide to switch sites is there a way I can move what I’ve already created or do I have to start over?
Also, just to say I thank you SO much for all your help so far. Had no one answered my post/s I’d be gone. I just need a little support to get me through the first steps. I’m sure I’ll catch on, eventually!

As far as I can see you haven’t created any content aside from test content but yes content can be exported out of WordPress.com blogs and imported into WordPress.org installs.
This is the main link to all support documentation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ The searchbox provides results from the support dos and also from forum threads. That same link “support” is found on the bottom of your Admin pages.

After reading the differences, I prefer the .com site. I just dont want to pay a lot of money because I already have enough sites to maintain and might even forget all about this one. I just want a simple blog site that I can change around depending on seasons. But yet, I feel I should be able to use small font for FREE without having to pay $30 to get my blog title from all caps. That, I believe is absurd. And to have to pay for a site that offers so few page themes/backgrounds?

SIGH …. I don’t know why you are persisting in sharing your consternation with us Volunteers. The differences between WordPress.com free hosted blogs and WordPress.org self hosted installs have been clarified and there’s no more that we can offer you in terms of support with regard to accepting the differences and making your own decisions. If you have any further questions on this subject or feedback please consider contacting Staff directly.

Thank you timethief, but I feel you are projecting your thoughts onto me. “Persisting” in sharing my “consternation” ??? I’m asking baby questions! I want to know why a free blog on blogger.com will let me choose between captital or baby letters, but this site won’t. Exposure is my main concern, and if both sites offer me a free blog but one lets me design my title with simple fonts that I choose, then I guess I have to go back there and finish up the design I started there.
I’m sure I’d become a paying member sooner or later but apparently not here.

And I did read the differences and made my “own decision”. I had said that I preferred the dot com!
