Adding RSS widget

I notice an RSS widget listed under the available widgets for my theme. Is this the same thing as a blog roll? When I click on edit (for the RSS widget) on my design page, it asks for RSS URL, feed title (optional) and what I want displayed. Just a bit confusing and I’m wondering how to use it.

Oh, I see. Would you say that the feed addresses are generally the site address followed by /feed?
