Adding Second Menu to Forefront Theme (so it's more like Responsive Theme)

    Hi,

It’s my first time setting up a website and I have a lot of spare time. I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to add a second menu to a theme that only has one menu?

    Much appreciation in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ideally I would have two menus, one global and one secondary. The global menu (by definition) would be seen on every page, but the secondary menu would only be seen on the home page. (I would like to unclutter my content)

    Again, thanks in advance.

    Welcome!

I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on how to add a second menu to a theme that only has one menu?

You can’t add functionality or dynamic content to a theme using CSS only, so if that’s what you want to do, then switching to a self-hosted WordPress.org setup where you can get complete control over all the code might be a better route for you.

Let’s take a closer look though.

Ideally I would have two menus, one global and one secondary. The global menu (by definition) would be seen on every page, but the secondary menu would only be seen on the home page.

There is a widget on WordPress.com called the Custom Menu Widget that will let you take any custom menu you create in Appearance > Menus and add it to any widget area. It’s also possible to change widget visibility to limit it only to the home page. Would that work? Here’s the related help page:
