Adding sharing icons to pics on a wordpress.com site, using Dyad theme
-
Hey everyone.
Anyone know if you can add sharing icons directly, or directly underneath, images on a blog piece on a wordpress.com site using Dyad? I feel I probably need to install a plugin, which means moving from .com to .org, but I’m hoping there might be another way!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s not possible to add sharing buttons below each image in any theme.
It is possible to display Pinterest buttons specifically on each image, if you choose the “official” style of sharing buttons – they should show up automatically.
I’m curious about why you’d want to add sharing buttons below every single image – wouldn’t that make the post look a bit cluttered? Let me know what your goal is and maybe I can think of other workarounds. Thanks!

Thanks for responding so quickly. Thought that might be the case.
My blog is about the interesting things today, and there are two elements in each post: the quote as an image, and the body of the text. I was reckoning that the image would be of more interest, and therefore shareable, than the body of the text, and so thought, by adding icons to it, it would make it easier for visitors to the site, particularly as some of the posts will be quite long, and some visitors may not want to scroll down.

The Pinterest “Pin It” hover button will automatically appear on your WordPress.com blog if you have added Pinterest as a sharing button on your Settings > Sharing page and if you are also using the “Official buttons” for the style of the buttons (you can change it on that same settings page).
We can hover over any image in a post and pin it if we are logged into Pinterest. If you have enabled the official buttons for sharing, a “Pin It” hover button will automatically appear for your images. https://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/ All we do after clicking the share button is choose one of the images displayed in the post to pin. It’s as easy as pie. ;)
See how to install the Pinterest browser button:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Internet Explorer
Safari
Microsoft Edge

todayireadthis – thanks for clarifying. I think most users share images via Pinterest, so perhaps that would be an option for you, as timethief and I suggested.
