Adding spoiler covering to a post
-
I’ve started my blog in part to post about books I’m reading and would like to be able to hide some of the text that can only be read if highlighted. Is this possible on wordpress.com? It probably is, but I’ve been unable to figure out how. Thanks!

two things:
you can hide it from the front page of your blog by inserting
<!-- more Spoilers! -->before the spoiler.
but it will still show up on the post.to change the text color to white (we can’t change background color)
hover your mouse near the bold and italic buttons, and press ctrl + B, and use the palette icon to change your text to white. -
Another idea: use ROT-13 rather than ROT-26 to encrypt your text. ;-)

Be forewarned, if you use the white text on a white background trick, you will be penalized by Google.

I’ve found that doing
*** SPOILERS ***
Darth is Luke’s father! Leia is his sister! C3P0 is his old Etchasketch! OMG!
*** END SPOILERS ***
is usually good enough.

sunburntkamel’s suggestion is probably the best you’ll get:
you can hide it from the front page of your blog by inserting
<!-- more Spoilers! -->before the spoiler. It uses the More tag:
-
You can also password protect a post and put the password in the next post, warning that it contains spoilers.
