Under “advertising” in support documentation here http://en.support.wordpress.com you find this and much more:
… please do not use the following services on your blog:
Sponsored or paid posts … http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/ -
Thanks for replies, they are sponsors for my photography, but they don’t pay to be on my blog or pay for any blog posts.

Tough call. I’ll flag this for an answer from staff. Probably still a No, but that’s for them to say.

I don’t think it’s a tough call at all. Post sponsors logos in your sidebar and without a doubt your are advertising. Well blogger iniatated advertising is not allowed of free hosted wordpress.com blogs.
I’m bookmarking this thread to see exactly what the Staff response is because I report blogs with such advertising in their sidebars to the ToS Staff regularly.

This is something I was not aware this was wrong until you have informed me. I’m not here to break the rules, if I knew this was wrong, I surely wouldn’t have asked how to do this on this forum.

We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you read more about at http://wordads.co/
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:
http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.
Please see this link to learn about the differences:
