Adding star ratings for reviews

  I use my blog for film reviews and assign each film a star rating. Since there’s not option in WordPress, I use typographic stars from Corel WordPerfect, but in the past visitors to my blog have had problems seeing them: they come up as boxes or not as all.

  WordPress.org has a plug-in option that allows you to add star ratings. I know WordPress.com doesn’t allow plug-ins, but I wonder if there is a simple, more reliable way to add star-ratings to reviews. And if there isn’t, is there any in the works?

  There isn’t as far as I know. VIP blogs here have it, but they pay several hundred dollars a month for it.

  Yep, but there are other compensations I understand. Not worth it for less than 50,000 hits a day in my opinion.

  Why not just create as many small graphics as you have star ratings (ie: 0 to 4) and then upload or insert again the right one to your reviews as needed? You can make them look as you wish with any colors you’d like and it would be a consistent look.

  That’s a thought! If you don’t need people to vote on them it should be easy.
