Adding Subdomain?

  so i want to make my email from my blog, which is through google apps, a subdomain (mail.mysite.com)
  HOW!
  it says to do something with a CNAME or something!
  also… do i have to buy the subdomain?

  oh yeah also, i was going to get a hosting service with Squarespace if that makes a difference
