adding subdomain .. credits needed?

  I read through how to add your own subdomain if you own one, but it sounded to me like if you had one already that you didn’t have to buy the 10 credits. Is that true??? i can’t seem to do it. it continues to ask for the 10 credits

  I am afraid that adding any domain (subdomain or full domain) costs the 10 credits. The main reason that people use the subdomain in my opinion would be:

  1) they want their blog on wordpress.com and the rest of their site on their own domain for other programs
  2) they want to have the domain with wordpress.com, but still want the domain somewhere else for the mail on their domain as wordpress doesn’t allow mail with the domain transfer.

  I am sure there are other reasons as well, but the domains still cost the credit either way, sorry!

  If you already have the domain that your want there or are planning to use a subdomain froma domain you already have, it’s 10 credits a year. If you need a domain for your site, it’s an additonal five.
