Adding tags after publishing

Hi I have just recently decided to add tags to my blog, but I can’t seem to be able to add the key words from previous postings. I can add a tag and then ‘Publish’ on a new posting and then the tag appears in what I hope is the start of a tagcloud….But I am a bit lost here…
Can you only ‘add tag’ to a new post BEFORE you publish? Or is it possible to go in and add tags to older postings?Thank you, any help is appreciated!

We cannot help you without a link to your blog, starting with http. We pretty much always need to look at the blog.

Thank you. Tags don’t save on your Dashboard from one post to the next; categories do. If you use tags on a post, though, they’ll show up at the foot (or, in some themes, the head) of the post. And if you use the tag cloud they will show up in the sidebar once you’ve attached them to at least one post. But it can take a half hour or so for sidebars to catch up. And the tag cloud widget only displays about 45 tags, whereas the categories widget displays all of your categories.
