Adding the day to posts
-
Hello,
I can’t seem to get my blog to add the day (ie Sunday) to posts. My Default date format is l, F j, Y, which should give the output “Sunday, June 24, 2007” but it doesn’t.
Can anyone help at all??
Many thanks!
Ben

The themes are hardcoded to produce the timestamps that you see, the way you see them. You have chosen the Kubrick theme and it does not include the day of the week. And we cannot edit our templates to include the day of the week. If it’s important to you, then you can type it in at the commencement of your posts.

Pretty much. We’ve been suggestion to folks that they send in feedback requestion that staff removed this hardcoding. It comes up every so often.
-
I’d like to flip this question around: how do I hide the posts’ timestamps from visitors without losing it in the Write page?
-
Need a link to your blog to tell you for sure. You’ll have to have the CSS upgrade though.

DrMike, here’s the link:
http://www.iraqtimeline.com/blog (it isn’t live yet)
Most of the pages have no content yet, but I’ve been experimenting with the March 2007 pages.
I don’t host the site, and I don’t want to ask my host to buy me the upgrade. He’s already donating the server space and the bandwidth, and was kind enough to set this up for me. (I realize this is the dot-com and not dot-org forums, so if you don’t want to continue answering this, I will understand and flee back to the far less helpful dot-org forum. Besides, this isn’t a major problem for me, just a matter of curiosity.)

Well unfortunely, you’re at the wrong site though as you’re not hosted here at wp.com. You need to be over http://wordpress.org as that’s the support site for the software. Our answers would be different, especially in this case and we can’t help you here.
edit: Hold on let me find it

Groan .. this is not even a wordpress.com blog. We only have answers for wordpress.com bloggers with blogs hosted by wordpress.com on this wp-MU wordpress multiuser blogging platform. You need to go to your host for support. We operate on different software.

Take a look at this page:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_time
There’s example of how to do the different displays. I’d change your theme file to the Default Usage example and just set it within the wordpress backend.
I include that link as it applies to wp.com as well. Just remember though that some themes are hardcoded here and no matter what you set within the dashboard, you may be stuck with what the theme designer wrote.
hope this helps,

Not a problem. :)
The tags apply to both platforms in case anyone finds this thread via searching.

Sorry for the delay in replying with my thanks, but thank you all very much for your help!
