Adding the WordPress.com header
-
I’m using my blog on the wordpress website right now, but I plan to host the script on my own server once I get it set up the way I want it. I’m curious though, is there a mod that can add the logged-in header from WordPress.com to my personal blog when I’m logged in as the admin? I like having the bar with links to my dashboard and the new-post button, and I like the fact that it disappears if I’m not logged in.
Rather than adding the links manually to my blog (which I already did), it would be a lot more neat and convenient to use the header.
Buried in all that was my question. lol. Is it possible to import the header from the main website to my personal blog? Thanks in advance for the help.

Nope, that’s a WordPress.com exclusive. There’s nothing to say you can’t be logged in to your own blog AND WordPress.com, but that blue admin bar won’t run on independent installs, only WP.com blogs.

It may actually work by some twisted way of coding. The issue is more a legal one than a technical. Automattic my be “not amused” about unsolicited use of unlicensed (=not released under a copyleft license) code.
AFAIK, there are plugins that create a similar bar for a self hosted blog. People on the wordpress.org forums may be aware of such solutions.
