adding title and alt text to embedded images

    I will be adding a title and alt text to many of my images that are already embedded in my posts. I know WHERE and HOW to do this. My Question is this: Will the updated images (updated with title and alt text) apply immediately to the images in my posts, OR will I need to RE-EMBED the images into the post AFTER I have updated them? I read an outdated blog post about how embedded images will not receive the updates unless the images were removed, updated and then embedded again. I hope re-embedding the image is no longer required in WordPress.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

    You may edit the title and alternative text of an image in a post editor in which the image is embedded, or in the media library, but doing so won’t change the image URL. The image slug portion of the the image URL (or permalink) may be edited in the media library. However, editing the permalink in this manner will break any links to the image, either internally or externally.

    OR will I need to RE-EMBED the images into the post AFTER I have updated them?

    If you’re only editing the title and/or the alternative text, then it doesn’t matter whether the edit is made via the post editor or via the media library. An edit at either location will be reflected in the other location.

    However, if you edit the image slug at the media library will you need to replace the image with the old slug in a post, page, etc.

    @staff: The “modlook” tag had already been added when I arrived at the topic.

  • Hi there,

    Please let us know if you have any questions that are not answered by @musicdoc1’s reply.

    @musicdoc1
    , it’s not necessary to post an explanation to us each time you reply to a modlooked thread. If we come to a thread and see a volunteer was able to help, we just remove the tag :)
