Adding Twitter, Facebook etc. Icons
-
Hey, how can you add icons for Facebook, Twitter, RSS etc. under the blog name / title?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
As we cannot confirm that you are referring to a WordPress.com free hosted blog and we cannot see it and take note of the Theme on it we cannot provide an answer to the “under the blog name / title?”
Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question so we can provide you with a correct answer.
If you are referring to a free blog from and being free hosted by WordPress.com then you can enable sharing icons on your posts by following these directions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

On the template that I used, I had to select “Widget” and drag the desired widgets over to the right side of the screen to the Sidebar.
Judah — good name. :)

Each theme is different and we do not know whether or not judahsdad is actually referring to a free hosted WordPress.COM blog or not. Every day we have WordPress.ORG bloggers posting here to the wrong forum for their software. The two run on different software and the answers to the same questions can be different.We do know that there are no widget areas in the location he/she points to which is “”under the blog name / title?”
We do know that some themes here have special social networking icons built in to the theme but in the majority of themes do not have them.
So I think it’s best to wait until we get the blog URL and then provide the correct answer to the question judahsdad has posted.

@judahsdad
Thanks for posting the URL. The theme you are using Notepad has this special feature you are requesting. To locate it please go here > Appearance > Theme Options and enter the data required and than click “Save Options”.Note also the sharing icons I referred to above can also be enabled on your posts, pages and index pages.

In addition you may want to check out these two widgets you can add:
Facebook badge > http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/
Twitter widget > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-widget/
Best wishes with your blog. :) -

You’re welcome and happy blogging! :)
P.S. I can recommend a comprehensive tutorial. The Learn WordPress.com tutorial is divided into progressive levels and presented as a series: http://learn.wordpress.com/

I tried to add the code for a Facebook like button to my wordpress.com blog without success. I tried to embed both codes that Facebook provides in a text/html widget. No luck embedding the like button on my home page. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

“We do know that some themes here have special social networking icons built in to the theme but in the majority of themes do not have them.”
Any idea which ones?
Thanks again.

re: Facebook like button
You cannot use the button provided by Facebook on a WordPress.com blog. The Facebook and other social network shariong buttons we can use on WordPress.com blogs can be enabled on your posts by following these directions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/ -
@udahsdad
I can’t recall them all now. Mystique is one that has social networking icons at the top of the blog under the title on the right hand side. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/mystique/ -
