Adding User Roles

  I noticed if I want to add a user, the only roles available include admin, editor, author, and contributor. Since my goal was to add followers/viewers/subscribers, I clicked to learn more. The only article I found directly addressing this was posted in 2018 and stated that the “subscriber role” was not available (see https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/subscriber-role-option/), but that seems to have changed since. Is there a way I can send an invitation via email to be a follower only (NOT author/editor/admin, etc.)?

  I think things happen the other way round. Followers choose to follow a site they are interested in. Site owners can’t make people follow their site. You could add a subscribe block however to encourage visitors to become followers.

  You can email friends and relatives with a link to your site/subscribe block of course.
