Adding Users to manage/contribute the WordPress site

I have read a few articles on how to invite ppl to contribute. I do not however understand this process…

I invited a user (myself) and accepted the invitation. I was then instructed to login to the new URL using the existing username and password for my main site. (The site I want other people to manage and upload comments and pictures to)

In the main site (ashlounge.wordpress.com) I went under the Users section and did not see any invites added so I can give them privileges to make contributions to the site…

I am looking for our DJ’s to upload their flyer under a specific page (Current Events) and post a little Blog on their set for the night, every night they perform.

Is there something that I am missing? is there a way for them to not have the main sites login username and password?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You need to send a invite to each of your 4 DJ’s. They will then need to set up their own account (don’t need the blog part, but they need to watch the little boxes when they set up the account or they will end up with an extra blog!!). Yes they can share a common log-in but that is not so good as if one leaves then everyone needs to change passwords as opposed to just removing one user. Also if they have their own account then when they make a Post it is tagged with their name.

then give the DJ’s the appropriate privileges (probably contributor – I think they can make their own Posts and edit them but not edit the Posts of others).

I would suggest that they make Posts as the most recent is always at the top.

Maybe I’m just extremely slow but when I test this out, I send an invite to an email that I control and when I check the email, WordPress sends a link in the email and when clicked it says:

“Get another WordPress.com blog in seconds”
“Welcome back, ashlounge. By filling out the form below, you can add another blog to your account. There is no limit to the number of blogs you can have, so create to your heart’s content, but blog responsibly.”

I am not looking for another Blog, just someone to help manage it…

    What am I doing wrong?

@ashlounge, log our of wordpress and clear your browser cache and cookies before clicking the link in the email. WordPress is seeing the cookie it set in your browser and is identifying you as already having an account.

Genius!!! Thank you, I will do that now and post back.

As you said above, that was what was happening. Thank you very much. Everything worked out wonderfully, thank you once again.

Glad that worked and you are welcome.
