Adding users to my blog/site

  I’m created a blog on wordpress.com with the intention of using it as sort of a private message board for a small organization – maybe a couple of dozen people. I’m not expecting the members to be terribly tech-savvy or know much about WordPress. I honestly don’t know much about WordPress yet either. Anyway, I’m just getting started and want to invite my first member. Does anyone who joins have to create their own blog?? I guess I was kind of hoping that they could register a user without having to create a blog.

  They need to register as a user – they don’t need to create a blog – CAUTION – the “I only want a name” check box was a bit hidden and not real obvious the last time a friend signed up so caution your friends to look closely and be careful.
