Adding users without forcing them to create their own blog?

  I am running a private blog and I want to invite users to participate but I don’t want to force them to create their own blog. Is there any way to do this? It seems that wordpress.com is forcing them to.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  They need an account but they don’t need a blog – the “account only” option is a bit hidden during the sign-up process – but there is an “account only” check box.
