adding video: which types are supported?
-
I want to upload a video to my blog. I’ve done so in the past with no problems, but as I recall, when I uploaded media in the past, it listed a handful of formats for videos that were acceptable. This time, no formats for videos are showing. I tried to upoad a .mov file and I get an error message. I can convert it, but to what? I am no longer seeing a list of types of movies that are accepted.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

These are the video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/
See here for the videopress upgrade which allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/ But note that if you upload your own videos to youtube or fileden, etc. that you don’t need to purchase the upgrade.Flash embeds are not allowed, with the exception of some specific shortcodes. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
For a Flash workaround see here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/ -
I looked at the site already, the 1st one you list and it didn’t answer my question. In the past (last fall) I uploaded a video that’s an MPEG and that format was listed in the upload media area. Now, hardly anything is listed, at least nothing from the list of usual video types that i can recognize. Has everything changed so suddenly?

Oh goodness, you know why it’s not listing all those… it’s because the videopress upgrade I had has expired!

The accepted file types are here and I’m not sure which changes if any have happened > http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/

Ta da! You have found the cause of your problem.
