Hi all, I need some help.

I’m trying to add my website to Google Search Console by verifying it through the DNS settings. For that, I need to access my website via https://wordpress.com/sites.

The problem is: my actual website doesn’t appear in the “Sites” list. Instead, I only see two free websites. However, when I go to Settings > Purchases, I can see the correct site listed there.

How can I fix this so the correct website appears under the “Sites” tab?

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there! It sounds like you’re facing an issue where your purchased (custom domain) site isn’t showing up under the “Sites” list at wordpress.com/sites, even though it appears under Purchases.

Here’s how you can resolve this:

    1. Check if the site is self-hosted or hosted on WordPress.com
If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted WordPress (via WordPress.org) site (e.g., hosted on a third-party provider), it won’t appear under the “Sites” list on WordPress.com like your free WordPress.com sites do.
In that case, you need to verify the domain directly in Google Search Console by choosing the Domain property option and adding the DNS verification TXT record to your domain registrar (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).
    2. If your site is hosted on WordPress.com
      • Make sure you’re logged into the correct WordPress.com account where the domain is purchased. Sometimes, multiple accounts can cause confusion.
      • Try accessing your site from this link: wordpress.com/me/sites – it sometimes displays additional sites that don’t show on the main “Sites” list.
      • If the issue persists, contact WordPress.com support via live chat (if you’re on a paid plan) or use the support forums for assistance. Provide the domain name and proof of ownership (like a screenshot from your Purchases tab).

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. I’ve contacted the domain provider and they said the site was hosted on WordPress.
This was there reply (translated from Dutch to English):

It’s still going wrong because the nameservers of your domain name point to an external party (WordPress) and not to those of Vimexx.
This means that the DNS configuration of your domain is also retrieved externally from WordPress and not from our DirectAdmin. In that case, you need to add the DNS record for Google Search Console in the DNS configuration of your domain at WordPress itself.

As far as I know, I only have one account. When I go to Purchases, I can see that my domain is being billed.

The page at wordpress.com/me/sites doesn’t seem to be working for me. I only see the WordPress logo, grey and centered on the screen.

I’ll try to contact the chat service.

    Hello again, @lidroadmin!

You’re correct, your site is hosted with us.

After looking into it, I noticed there was a temporary issue with your Jetpack connection.

When you get a chance, could you please reply to the message I sent earlier to the email address associated with your account? Once you do, we’d be happy to continue assisting you from there. Alternatively, feel free to reach out to us directly at help@wordpress.com.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
