adding widgets
-
Many tutorials show an “add widgets” ability in the appearnace menu. I do not have that ability on my site. I don’t understand why I can’t add functionality to my pages. I really want to use the tinyMCE editor I am used to. Do I have to not be doing this on word press.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How many username accounts do you have?
Which username account registered the blog in question? You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and who is the Admin of the blog to access it and to access > Appearance > Widgets.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If required click the “Need More Help” link and complete the form for account recovery. -
Thanks, I can log in fine. The problem it seems is I need to be self hosted i.e. not on wordpress.com, but on wordpress.org. Now I need to know how to migrate a .com site to a new server, so I can be a .org user.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have separate username accounts and logins.
Hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/
Set up a WordPress.org install http://wordpress.org/
Update the name servers to point to the new WordPress.org install.
(a) If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-nameservers
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/
(b) If you purchased your domain from another provider then chnage the name servers there.Export your content out of the WordPress.com blog, go to Tools → Export, and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer. Then import it into the WordPress.org install.

P.S. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
