Adding wordpress to an existing website

I have a website that I am looking to ad a blog to as either the index page or a sub page. I would like it to have the same design and act as a blog, but look as though it is part of the design. I have been scouring over the internet looking for ideas on how to do this and have not gotten anything substantial. Is this possible and does anyone know how to do this? I apologize if this is a repost of s common topic.

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress software would drive a site like yours without breaking a sweat. Part of what you need to decide is where you want WordPress software to be – do you want to hose on WordPress.COM (differences: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ ) or self host the WordPress software on your own site. Your URL can be mapped to a WordPress.COM site so hosting here is possible as long as you meet the Terms of Service.

WordPress.ORG (http://wordpress.org/support/) has guides to help if you want to self host and duplicate.

You could just install WP in a directory of your existing site and go – you could have a blog here and link or map to it from your existing site.

You could install WP software in a directory of your existing site, get the site looking and working the way you want then “move” it to the root and drive the whole site (5 minutes, edit a file or two and change some internal settings – BUT – if you do that read the instructions several times – the .ORG Forum is full of people that moved the site wrong and crashed things)

Doing a site with WP software close to your existing site would be real easy.

So – – you need to decide which basic way you want to go – self hosted or here on WordPress.COM.

    Hoped this helps a bit.

PS – you should be able to find an existing Theme close to yours so no CSS should be needed.

I do not mind hosting it on the wordpress site. the thing that I am most concerned about is keeping the navigation the same as the existing website so it looks like it is part of that website. when you say “move” the site, would I just download the WP files and then alter the css and coding to match my existing site? And then upload them back onto the WP site? I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

The “move” I referred too was changing the starting location on a self hosted site for WordPress software from – say //sigkitchens/wordpress/ to //sigkitchens/ so when you went to the root of your site the WordPress software would pick up and go for the whole site. No need to do a massive move of files, that is why I put it in quotes.

If you want to host here at WordPress.COM then you would just build the site here then remap the domain to your site here at WordPress.COM (small charges) – then wait for the magic of the internet to do the shuffle – there is some sort of email mapping with Google I think that lets you have email that ends in the same URL as your site.

Your base site has the navigation similar to many WordPress Themes. On your site here http://sigkitinc.wordpress.com/ go to Dashboard >> Appearance >> Themes and you can preview about 100 Themes for the look.
