Adding www to blog URL
-
Hi,
After extensive search/research I did not find any solution so approaching you. My blog objets-decoration-maison.fr is hosted on wordpress.com. By default, the domain redirects to http://objets-decoration-maison.fr whereas I want the by default location to http://www.objets-decoration-maision.fr (with www. in front).
I couldn’t find a solution to this.
Any help is appreciated.

If you use the www version, something like a third of internet users will not be able to get to your site. The one WITHOUT the www outranks the www version. As far as I am aware, WordPress.com does not offer any option to limit your URL to http://www.whatever.

It’s actually in the FAQ. And there was a post about this a few days ago with a link to a site that explained why the www is redundant.

Thanks a lot people.
I always thought that www. version is better than without it. So I will stop trying in vein to go for a www version. However, it would be good to learn why www is redundant so I will dig into the FAQ as suggested by vivian.

interesting- if i were to change the default url to not include www would that affect things like stumble upon & digg rankings with the original www. url?
