Adding WWW to your domain

  I would like to add www to my root domain so instead of example.com it is http://www.example.com. Does wordpress allow this? I am a little confused because one support page says it does and even gives instructions “https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/setting-custom-a-records/” and the other says it doesn’t “https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/”. I tried the instructions given but it hasn’t worked.

  Thanks for pointing out that inconsistency; I’ve updated the doc.

  We don’t support creating a record for ‘www’. It’s also unnecessary, as the ‘www’ subdomain will automatically redirect to the naked domain name.
