Addition of “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” to comments

  I would like to have a checkbox by the comments box standard so that people can follow comment threads on my site. I realize this is possible through plugins, but I’m hosting my site on WordPress, and not by myself (www.jeffchin.com) This would improve discussions for people who don’t want to have a feed for everything that they’ve posted on.

  timethief, thanks for your response, I do have my feed burned through feedburner, but I don’t want them to receive the post via email, but any responses to their comment via email. I do also have “track co.mments” in my feed, but getting an email is much easier for the average person rather than signing up for a co.mments account, and visiting that site, etc…does that make sense?

  I understand what you’re expressing. I actually un-subscribed from every feedburner one I was subscribed to because I was flooded with email. I’d rather use feeds myself but that doesn’t mean others won’t have the opposite preference.

  IIRC, the plugin is called “Subscribe to comments” and it’s been suggested a couple of times. Best bet would be to submit a feedback with this suggestion on monday.

  While it’s not a solution that gives them the additional comments to their specific comment made in a post, you do know that you have a comment RSS feed as well, right? You can give that to feedburner as well.

  Yes, I have my comments feed burned as well, but I would like for those of my readers/friends who aren’t up to speed on RSS can just have new comments on each post sent to them via email. This way, they can only see the comments on the posts that they posted on. I’ll submit this via feedback on monday. thanks for the responses.
