Additional unpublished images posted on someones feed

Hi WordPress, Get website btw! Can you suggest ways to ensure additional unpublished images don’t get sent out onto peoples feeds with intended published images. And do all followers get the unpublished images as well as the intended image? Is there a way to check just the images meant to be sent get sent but not others. many thanks for your time and help! Baz

  • Hi @Baz, do you mean on Facebook or elsewhere? If you’ll send a link to the article that’s giving you trouble, and also send a link to the feed that’s publishing it, we’ll take a look.

    Hi supernovia

Sorry I didn’t describe too well the unpublished image on someones feed

I posted an image last night about 12:25 am- sometime yesterday Chris Bronsk blog on WordPress posted a comment saying ” That First Image is Intense”
ok, so immediately replied: First image? do you mean most recent.?

ie the single image- then Chris describes another image which wasn’t posted but somehow was included in the feed to his blog.

I mean it’s no big deal was just unsure how an unpublished image found its way onto another WordPress feed. So it was on WordPress not facebook. Don’t know what link to send you except for the comments made from Chris Bronsk blog to my blog.

    Thanks for getting in touch

    Kind Regards

  • Hi Baz,

The other image appeared because you added it to the post. Looking at the revision history in the editor, you published the post with the image, https://bazallen.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/p1330368-2.jpg, and two minutes later updated it with a different image, the one currently visible on the post.

If you go to My Site ->Blog Posts and edit that post, then click the History link at the top, you’ll be able to see the older version with the other image.

    Hi
    thanks for your help

the link of the image is not the same as the image that appeared on the feed and that was described by the blogger but will check the history link anyway – but no worries though thanks

so an update on a post still sends previous images on a feed- even a draft?

I noticed that the publish button was unavailable when updating the image-only preview button was visible.. but it doesn’t matter anyway as the other image in question. was posted last night so its cool no worries

    all the best

    Baz

That would depend on exactly where that commenter saw your post and how exactly it was embedded there. Most likely the preview they saw was cached, in which case it won’t change after you updated it unless the cache on that site also refreshes.

    Hello
Look, sorry don’t understand that but no worries mate. commenter commented that it was on their feed but thats all no other details. probably technical enough though really. have to ask the commenter because don’t know what else they saw on feed. But also checked revisions and there was no info on image p1340401 which was the image the commenter commented on.
