Address issues – opening page problems

  • Unknown's avatar

I had hoped to get my class reunion page address to just be ehs60.com. But when all was ready to go, it ended up being ehs60.wordpress.com. Is that the way it has to be? Or can I change it (or make another blog) to be just ehs60.com?
Also – the page that comes up when accessing the blog says “Sorry, you are looking for something that isn’t here”. How do I change THAT page? I can make another page, but the one that says “sorry” is the one that comes up first. I have the “Dummies” book, but it’s a little lean on this subject.
    Thanks

To make your address ehs60.com, you’d do this:

re: “Sorry, you are looking for something that isn’t here”:
You deleted the original Hello World post and have not added any other posts. Just write a post and the message will go away. Posts and pages are very different from each other:

Also, be sure you know the difference between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG because I believe much of the “Dummies” book is abour wp,ORG.

For details, read the yellow sticky post at the top of the forum which explains the difference between the two.

Thanks so much! You have already solved my first issue. I posted the message and “Bingo”.
Yes, the “Dummies” book has a lot of the .org things in it. I need something more specific to how to work with wordpress.com.

    Thanks again.
