Hi there,
The Address text style was recently removed from the core WordPress software because we found it was rarely used and often incorrectly used for its intended purposes.
Would you let me know how you were using Address element and perhaps we can find a workaround for your site?

Hi!
I used it quite a lot in my book reviews posts, because I like how that style puts the text not too far apart between paragraphs, unlike the actual paragraph style, here’s an example. That text next to the image.
I understand maybe this is not the correct use for that text style, but it suited me.
I’m still using it though, by editing my posts on HTML, I hope that’s okay? -

Yup, that’s definitely okay. :)
Even though WordPress’s post editor removed ‘Address’ , the CSS styles that control the look-and-feel of the address tags are all controlled by the Theme.

This is basically the reason for the change. The ‘address’ HTML element is meant to be used specifically for contact information to be associated with the page. In general, HTML elements are meant to define the content and context of what’s on a webpage — and we’d use CSS to define the look and feel.
Situations likes yours are kind of a quirk in that WordPress.com combines (kind of?) the two of them at the free level of the site. We found across most of WordPress, people were using the ‘address’ element not for addresses, just for the text style in general.
So under normal circumstances I’d help you redesign another one of the text styles to your preference using Custom CSS — but if you’re comfortable adding in the ‘address’ tags using the text editor, that’s probably the way to go!

Thank you, Alex, I’m good adding the tags. I started doing it after my initial freak out “THE ADDRESS STYLE IS GONE, THE ADDRESS STYLE IS GONE”, 5 minutes later I remembered I could edit my post on HTML and still use that text style. Of course I’d love to have the option back on the editor, but if that’s not possible, I’ll keep doing my thing.
Thank you for your time and help.
& Happy Holidays! :) -
I get that occasional freak out on one of my .org self-hosted sites – “Which plugin updated and ruined everything?!?!”
Glad you’ve got a workaround for this one though!
Happy holidays to you as well. :)
