  Hi, just noticed adds on my site, do we get any payments for that or does that only happen when you upgrade and pay, thanks Penny

  If you are on a free plan, however, WordPress.com displays ads, including WordPress.com promotional banners, to maintain costs for users.

  To eliminate ads on your website, You can upgrade to WordPress.com Personal plan or you can either stay on the Free and choose to purchase the No Ads Add-on from Tools → Marketing.
