Adelle custom design problems
-
I am trying to customize my wordpress.com adelle theme. I wanted to make custom design changes like Girllostinthecity.com.
I want to delete thick black navigation bar and have a gray line on top and bottom.
I also wanted to delete squiggly lines between sidebar widgets like she does and put widgets gray boxes.
I would also like my social icons in the gravatar widget like girllostinthecity.
Lastly, I want to get rid of date in the circle and just put abbreviation for month and number ( oct 10)
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am new to CSS code.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The custom design upgrade you need to make the changes applies only to a single blog and that upgrade can no longer be purchased individually for any new blog. To have a custom design upgrade on a blog that does not already have that upgrade now requires purchasing either a Premium bundle http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ or a Business bundle. http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/
WordPress.com sells bundled Premium http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ and Business upgrades http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/ which include custom design upgrades in the bundles.
We can only “preview” changes that do not actually display on the blog unless we purchase an upgrade bundle.
If you have not purchased the upgrade bundle which includes a custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
Appearance > Header
Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > GeneralIf you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.
To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

If you have purchased either bundle of upgrades then please use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can copy and paste your text into a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need.

Seeing as you already have the custom design upgrade try adding this to your CSS, it will remove the separator from between the widgets and restyle some of the main menu:
.widget { background:none; } .navigation-main { background:#fff; border-top:3px #ddd solid; border-bottom:3px #ddd solid; } .navigation-main a { color:#111; }You should be able to modify the date by going to Settings > General. If you select custom and use “M j” you will get the desired format.

Wow! Thank you for your help! That was quick. Now how can I center the pages in the menu bar? And how can I get gray box outline around each widget in my sidebar?

.menu-menu-1-container { text-align:center; } #menu-menu-1 { display:inline-block; } .widget { border:3px #ddd solid; } -
I have been struggling for days trying to find someone to help me locally to tweak my site and didn’t really think I could do it through the CSS Customization forum. I thought I would have major issues trying to input the codes without someone right next to me telling me what to do, but with your help today I have gotten my site looking great!! I really appreciate all your help!!
One last tweak for the night will be to center my site title. I am waiting on a custom logo but for the time being I would like to center what I have. Thank you again!!

Hi. My site is http://www.thrivecounsellingjamaica.com. I tried the same css customizations as recommended for the previous poster with no result at all. Nothing changed. Please help. I want to customize the sidebar boxes. Upload a background for the subscribe box, get rid of the think nav bar lines and make them thin lines.

Hi Mary Ann, your site title changes were answered in this post.
@susayesr, your site isn’t hosted on WordPress.com so you are much more likely to find someone who can help if you ask in the WordPress.org forum instead, here‘s how the two are different, good luck!
