Adjust size of pictures
-
I cannot see how to adjust the size of my picture. I want to adjust it, but there isn’t anything allowing me to drag it or re-size it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
That sounds frustrating. Let’s look into that.
Are you trying to resize the image from the editor on the individual page or post? Were you using an image block?
If you haven’t tried yet, could you please resize the image by following the steps highlighted here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/resize-image/?If you get a different result, could you share a screenshot as well?
I look forward to your reply so I can assist you further.

Thank you. I’ve read through your response, and I can see that I am describing the problem incorrectly. As I’ve played around with it, yes, I can re-size pictures using the handles.

But once I put the words onto the picture, I’ve changed it to a Cover Block, and one of those handles disappears. So I still change the size of the Cover Block in the vertical direction, but I can’t change it in the horizontal direction. I’ve circled the handle for adjusting the vertical height. The video tutorial on the wordpress site showed adjustments in the vertical direction, but it didn’t show how to make adjustments in the horizontal direction.

I know that this adjustment can be done because when I look at the webpage that I’m trying to recreate, I can see it just fine. The webpage that I am trying to re-create is http://www.springcreekinc.com.

You’re absolutely right — the Cover block behaves differently from an Image block, so the settings are also different.
Cover blocks are designed to adapt to the screen size, which means you don’t get the same pixel-level control over the appearance. However, you can still set a minimum height, or even make the block take up the full height of the page when it loads.
There’s more about these controls here which I think should help here – https://wordpress.com/support/banner-layout/

When I read through the link that you sent, it says that I should be able to adjust the paragraph block inside the cover block, or at least that’s what I understand from the paragraph below. But I can’t figure out how to switch this option “on”. I don’t see any options on my cover block settings that allow me to toggle ‘Inner Blocks Use Content Width.” How do I see that?

You read the guide correctly! It looks like the site you’re working on is on one of our older themes that doesn’t fully support all the functionality of the block editor.
Looking at what you’re designing, I selected some similar themes that take full advantage of all the block editor tools:
You can click the “Preview” button to see how your site will look before committing to a theme.
Also, switching a theme doesn’t mean you have to start all over; the content you built will still be there. You can learn more about switching themes: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/changing-themes/
