Adjusting colum width

I’m trying to learn how to adjust the width of the colums in my blog. I’m new to this and I’m not sure what to do. I want to be able to upload fairly good size pictures.

I can’t pull up source from this computer to tell you exactly what to do but I do want to comment on the second part of your post. Please remember that not everybody has super fast broadband. Some 70% on the net is still on dialup. May I suggest using thumbnails and linking to the full size images instead?

That way you’re not annoying folks who want to view your site.

You should try to pick a nice wide blog entry template. Or you will need to upgrade (buy credits) to be able to edit your css stylesheet. This will then let you customise any aspect of your template.

How big (to you) is a decent sized photo. Notwithstanding what Dr Mike and kosso said above, most screens only support a maximum resolution of 1024 by 768.

Once you have taken into account white (or black!) space, the sidebar and margins, you’re realistically looking at around 700px for the image. Now, I haven’t checked my stats recently but last time I looked around 60% of my readers were still using 800×600 screens. Think about the above again and that only leaves 400-450 px for your images.

What I normally do is to give a smaller image of around 450px with either the photo linked or a text link to a larger version if people wish to view it.

I hope this helps with your dilemma.
