Adjusting column widths

Hello,
I’d like to adjust the width of the two columns of my WP theme. I’d like to made the left column narrower and increase the gutter between the left and right column to create more white space.Once I’ve figured out where to adjust this in the CSS, can you also let me know how to add this modification to the stylesheet?

Your blog visibility is private. All CSS editing here is theme specific. You have not stated the theme you are using, and you appear to wish to have someone help you when they cannot even see what it is that you are referring to. Let’s start with you telling us which theme it is that you are working with please.

Apologies for not including details – my first post and clearly a novice. I am using the Morning After Theme. Any help is appreciated.

There is Staff support for the custom design upgrade, but most Staff are at a workshop and will not return until August 15th. Please be patient while you wait.

The main page has the content column and then two sidebar columns. Static pages have one sidebar and the content area. We need some clarification on what you want to narrow and where. It makes it difficult not being able to see things.

i would really love to know the keys to resizing column widths. i’m currently working on my first real child theme (of 2011).

specifically i’d like the edge of the page navigation widget (and all other widgets i might place on that sidebar to left-align with the header image. then i’d like to make the gutter between the columns narrower, maybe by half. then i’d like to make the content area extend all the way to the left edge of the header image.
i’m totally new at wordpress but loving it so far.

I am a pre-kindergartner in Word Press. I accidentally made my blog narrower and I need to know how to widen it back without deleting everything. Can someone explain to me in simple terms? I surely will appreciate it. Thanks.

@emilysparkle since you are working on the self-hosted version of wordpress, you need to be over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress sites are supported.
