Adjusting position of featured posts on front page (gateway theme)

Add topic to favorites
I have the gateway theme and I don’t want to use a title/subtitle on the Home Page but then there’s a gap between my header image and my featured posts. I want to move and position my posts up closer to the header image. Thanks!

Also, I would like to get rid of the Sidebar on my category pages and on individual posts.

Hi, the following will hide the div which the post titles were in above the featured images on your home page.
```
.home-posts-titles {
    display: none;
}
```
```
.archive #secondary, .single #secondary {
    display: none;
}
.archive #main, .single #main {
    width: 100%;
}
```
After adding the above, put 1152 into the Media Width field below the CSS edit area.

This worked! I couldn’t put 1152 in the media width field, but I think it looks okay.

One more thing! When I try to share my website on Facebook I get a blank image that says “no title” and random text below it. I chose to hide the Gateway title on my homepage but is there anyway I can change how it looks when I go to share it on Facebook to where it looks like my real site instead of a blank page/title?

I was able to upload a blavatar to get my logo on the tab but I am still unable to post my main site to Facebook without it saying (no title) and not showing my blavatar

Hiding your page titles with CSS doesn’t delete them from the HTML, it just tells the browser not to display them visually on the site, so that isn’t the issue. Which page are you trying to share on FB?

I can’t see files directly on your computer. Can you upload that file to your media library and then I can look at it there, or you can post the URL of it once you upload it.

Facebook is a bit challenging at times, and in some instances they will pull some images that make you shake your head. FB also does caching of stuff, so it could be that they are pulling something from their cache for your site from a previous share or something. Also, if the original image uploaded has a large file size, FB will not use it.

The first thing I would try is to go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/, paste in the URL of your home page and click “Debug” and then choose “Fetch new scrape information”.

I am trying to share my homepage. If I want to share posts or pages on my website, the thumbnails work just fine, it’s just the homepage that seems to be the issue.

I uploaded the screenshot of the Facebook thumbnail to my media library. I tried to debug it and nothing seems to change.

However, when I am on my mobile and share my homepage on Facebook then it does show the blavatar/title/site description. But I would like for me and others to be able to share my website/homepage on a computer.

Did you go to the developers site and do what I suggested above?

As I understand things, and I don’t know that anyone really understands why FB does what they do, or does not do, but from looking at the HTML on your, they generally will first look for a featured image on the page, and if they don’t find that, then they will look for the first image in the main content. The three posts on your main page are in a featured content div, so they will typically ignore those. I’m not sure if they will try and pull the site logo or not.

Let me know if you did the thing with FB developers tools.

I went to the developers site and I still have the same problem. It seems to be pulling an old header image that I used as a draft but is no longer in my gallery and a site description that I just tested a while ago but no longer exists.

After fetching new scrape information several times it finally updated. I’m not sure why it took so long to change/what did it but it finally works now. I’m assuming if I want to change my site description or blavatar I should go back to the developer site and fetch new information again in order for it to update? Thanks!

That’s super, glad it’s working now. It could be that there is a delay on the FB end and that new scrape requests are queued and run in the order they came in, along and around everything else the servers are doing.
