Adjusting the width of photos and videos

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am new to wordpress.com, so please forgive me in advance for my ignorance!

    I wanted to increase the width of the main column of my website, and basically eliminate the right sidebar. I did this by adding this code to the custom.css editor

    #main {
    width:919px;
    }

    #sidebar {
    width:1px;
    }

    It worked! Yay!

    Trouble is, now when I try to center an image, it stays on the left side as if the former width is still in effect. I can’t figure out how to utilize the entire width of the new column for the purposes of centering a photo. In another forum thread someone mentioned that you have to increase the column width for photos and videos separately, but I don’t know where to do this. Please be specific about where I should change these numbers.

    Thank you!
