Adjustment on Event Brite Theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello Friends @ WordPress Team

    Once again, I am back to request for a much needed help on the blog: whythesilence.com

    My concerns are as follows:

    1. Tektron font is used on the headings. Is there any way to
    reduce the size of the font on the widgets, but not the
    top header. I repeat, the widget. If I change the size, then
    “Why The Silence” shrinks down.

    2. Understand that I have to enter the title of the post. The
    problem is that it shows up on the very top with Tektron font
    and its size becomes small as you can see from the few posts
    which is published. How can I make the size larger? What it
    does is that it duplicates the title? One shorter one, whereas
    the other longer one.

    3. Another problem which I am faced with is that, when I
    change the ‘Body Text’ to 3 points, then there is a shift in the
    black column where “The Humanist Tradition” moves to the
    second tow. I would like to keep the size 3 using Proxima
    Nova and keep the black bar with all the four content on one
    row as it is now.

    4. There is one more issue that caught my attention. The
    link which I attached in the old posts has color code of red.
    Now when I posted a letter today, the link turned into brown
    color. Any reason why it changed? I thought that this ‘Event
    Brite” theme, like “Yoko” theme should be consistent.

    5. The current CSS code is as follows:

    .home .pagetitle {
    display: none;
    }

    .home .carousel {
    margin-bottom: 30px;
    }

    .wf-active header .logo-text h1 {
    font-size: 4.8em;
    }

    .event-text .date {
    display: none;
    }

    Awaiting the favor of your early reply.

    1) This should change the size of the font for the widget titles only: Is that what you were hoping for? You can adjust the number up and down to get to the size you want.

    .widget-title{
        font-size: 1em;
    }

    2. You are using a theme in a way that’s not exactly standard (which is fine, just makes things a little funny) so it looks like your “posts” are thought of as “events” by your theme. The titles of those events use the H3 style rather than a separate title category. You can make the text bigger with the code below–just note that everytime you use H3 you will get the larger font:

    h3
    {font-size: 1.5em;
    }

    I’m not sure what you mean by this question:

    What it
    does is that it duplicates the title? One shorter one, whereas
    the other longer one.

    Can you ask it another way?

    3) I think we should be able to get the menu to show up all on one line, but it will be easier to do after you make the change you want to see with the rest of the text. Do that please, let the menu go onto two lines and then I’ll come back with the CSS to get it to go back.

    4) My guess is your theme shows links that you’ve visited in a different color than one’s you haven’t. It’s there so visitors can easily remember which pages they have read and which ones they haven’t.

    Thanks for your help. I inserted the code which you gave on CSS feed.
    You will notice that I mentioned “Compassion is Morality.” That is the way I got it to be in one line.

    My question is, “Is there any way to reduce the font size of the black bar a little?”

    On the color of links, “How can I change the color?” Right now it is showing as brown which I do not prefer. It will be best to get some bright color so that readers can know that it is a link.

    With your code, I was wondering if the font size of “Body Text” changed to “3” … Not sure about that. I feel that font size 3 might make it more readable.

    Let me know what do you think? Thanks again for your help and I look forward to hear from you soon.

    Interestingly, the black bar now fits everything. I wonder if you adjusted the font size from your end!

    Two remaining questions are “How to get the link to show burnt orange in color?” and “How to increase the body text to size 3?”

  • Unknown's avatar

    I believe this will make all the links the burnt orange color you prefer:

    .event-text a, .event-text a:visited{
        color: #e77e23 !important;
    }

    As for “body size 3” HTML 5 no longer supports that particular way of increasing font size, but the css below will make your paragraph text larger. Does that work for you?

    .post-entry p, .event-text p{
        font-size: 1.1em !important;
    }

    Appreciate your help. Now that I got everything working, however,
    one little request is, “How can I change the color of the widget
    title?” Note that I changed from burnt orange to crimson red color
    on the links. I prefer “cc0000” on all the widget titles.

    Now, will the post title that is on the right side change too. I feel
    that now the body text is clean and readable for the elders.

    This should change the color of the widget titles:

    .widget-title{
        color: #cc0000 !important;
    }

    Does that solve everything for you? I’m not sure if you were asking for the titles on the right to be changed as well, or just pointing out that you like them they way they are. . . .

    You’re indeed the best. I think for now this will be enough.

    Are you around during the week? How about tomorrow? The reason
    I am asking is because I need help in two to three blogs that are
    already launched.

    For instance, on www:thestupidcommonman.com, I want to learn
    how to create the “Gallery” so that I can place majority of the YouTube
    Links in on section.

    Do I have to create another support ticket for this request and close
    this one?

    Thanks again for all your help.

    I’m glad I could help.

    The best thing to do is to close this ticket and open a new one tomorrow–be sure to use a very clear subject line so staff and volunteers can get a good sense of what you are trying to accomplish before they even open the thread. Then, just explain what you are trying to do in the body of the request as clearly as you can. It’s also usually better to open a separate ticket for each question–but never multiple tickets for the same question.

    I’m not sure if I will be around tomorrow or not, but there are several wonderful volunteers here, most of whom have more experience than I. If you start a new ticket I’m sure you will get the help you need from someone, even if it’s not me, as quickly as is possible.

    Note: all of the volunteers look for “questions with no replies” when we are looking for people who still need help, so if it happens to take an hour or longer for someone to get to you, don’t reply to your own ticket as a way to “bump” it to the top. I know it’s tempting to do that as it seems to make your thread more visible, but it actually makes it harder for us to notice that you need help. (You didn’t actually do this today, so there is no reason to assume you would, I just know it’s tempting, so I thought I’d mention it.)

    Good luck with all of your sites, and have a nice evening.
