admin access
-
We have 2 active Word Press logins for our company, however, our new web developer said these logins do not give him enough access to fully update our site. He said he could use the login for previous admin or the previous web developer. I do not have these logins on file. How do I grant him admin access? I already gave him account access through our hosting service.

Hi @adminhousingindependenceorg,
Looking at your account, you have no sites listed. Do you perhaps have another WordPress.com account, and could you please share your site URL?
Please keep in mind, these forums are for sites hosted on WordPress.com managed hosting. If your site is hosted elsewhere, help is available in the WordPress.org forums.
With that said, if you’ve lost your administrator account, you might want to contact your host for help recovering that.

hi metabreakr,
site is housingindependence.org
There may be another WordPress account because when I tried to register one the account name that our company often uses it was taken, however it was not associated with our admin email. I am afraid our previous office manager may have used her own work email rather than the admin email.
Since we are hosted by GoDaddy it sounds like I should be posting in the WordPress.org forum. I will try that.
I did explain the situation to GoDaddy and I granted our web developer access through their site. Our web developer seems to think that he needs admin access through WordPress. I wish I was more savvy about websites.
I appreciate your advice! Thank you!

Hi there,
Yes, I checked and confirmed it is a Go Daddy hosted site, so the best bet is to follow the instructions on the dotorg support page on how to regain access to the backend of the site:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
If you have access to the email address connected to the account, the easiest way to regain access to the site is to reset the password through email:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/#through-the-automatic-emailer
Since you have given the developer access via Go Daddy, you should also be able to reset the password via MySQL:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/#through-mysql-command-line
or through phpAdmin:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin
Hope this helps. Go Daddy should be the best source of assistance for this matter since the site is hosted with them. The dotorg community forums will be pretty resourceful as well.
Thanks!

hi Darnell. I have forwarded responses from you and the .org forum to the web developer and feel confident one of the suggestions will work! Thank you so much for the support!
