Admin and Blog pages not loading/very slow to load
-
Hi all,
I’ve noticed significant changes in my blog load times over the last 3 weeks. The site is englishaspie.wordpress.com. Pages will frequently not load at all particularly when I’m in the “Admin” section of the blog. Trying to add pages or posts will take a long time to “Publish” or “Update” or return an error page (In Chrome: This Webpage is not Available Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.)
I have done some reading on the issue and have tried
1. Deleting all widgets
2. Changing number of posts displayed to 2
3. Using diagnostic sites like http://site-perf.com/ and http://tools.pingdom.com/ Both return speeds much faster than i’m experiencing.
4. Other Safari and Firefox return similar results (I usually use Chrome).I don’t see why these approaches would change the load time of the admin pages though they have improved the load time of the actual site.
Thoughts and suggestions would be much appreciated as teaching from the site at the moment is almost impossible.

I clicked the link and was in your blog in 1 second flat. I don’t know how to help you but I can tell you I am using Firefox 3.6.16 in case that’s helpful. Please report this error message and all the details of what you are experiencing to Staff. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Hey thanks,
I had a suspicion that was going to be the response I would get :( I’ll try updating FF but at 3.6.13 so I don’t suspect this is the issue (as other browsers are all up to date).
Thanks for the help.

I tried a few more speedcheck sites and kept coming up with the same results – very snappy load times (which is just frustrating, frankly!). I then tried running the site through the webproxy hidemyass.com (not so safe, I know, but i’m getting pretty desperate!). Even more frustrating was the site load was fast and snappy – 1000 times (exaggerating!) better then without the proxy.
Does anyone have thoughts on what this might indicate?

Speaking of viruses, this morning I got a ton of comments on various posts of mine that seem very suspicious. (I don’t usually get any comments) They are all intentionally vague, so as to fit almost any situation. Also, lots of misspellings as if English is a second language. I opened the emails, but did not approve the comments. Should I be worried about a virus?
