Admin Backend Background Color Continued

My last thread was closed to more replies without resolving my issue so I’m going to repost here…

Hi All, I’m trying to change the background color of all admin backend background from white to something grey. I don’t know about you guys but I just can’t see where one menu body ends and another begins because everything is just white….maddening. There are NO plugins that do this, I’m looking for either CSS custom code or code for the functions.php file in the Editor.

To the admin who closed the last thread: I appreciate your reply and attempting to help, but closing the thread without checking with me whether this resolves my issue is a proper way to operate a forum. In this case it did not resolve my problem. I’ll thank you to leave it open this time.

The back end WP Admin areas cannot be changed in the normal way with CSS since it is part of WordPress core, and not part of a theme. You can either use one of the plugins, or post to the WordPress.org forums where they can tell you how to hack the WordPress core CSS to change the colors, but do be aware that any changes you make to the WordPress core software will be overwritten in WordPress updates.

If you are talking about the post and page editor, I am unaware of any plugins that allow that to be changed, so you would have to hack the original files and then repeat those hacks when there was a WordPress update.

Your best bet is to post at WordPress.org since they are far more familiar with things like this. We cannot do this sort of thing here at WordPress.com.

The differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
