My admin bar (black bar at the top of the screen) only has ‘My site’ and ‘Reader’ icons. It doesn’t have the icon with my site name. How can I fix this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi tricklinecollective.

Go ahead and click on “My site” and you should site site choice options on the top of the lefthand sidebar.

Hope that helps. Have a great day!

For example, I’m missing the “customize” button on my admin bar when looking at pages on my site. How can I get this to appear?

@tricklinecollective, what you are seeing is one aspect of WordPress that varies between self-hosted sites and those hosted on WordPress.com.

The customize feature is reached a slightly different way on WordPress.com hosted sites. Click on ‘My Site’ and choose the ‘Customize’ option on the left sidebar.

There isn’t any way to add the clickable ‘customize’ link to the admin bar short of switching to a self-hosted site.

  • Hi there,

The admin bar never shows your site’s name. Just My Sites and Reader on the left, and Write, Profile and Notification icons on the right. The Customize option is only visible once you click on My Site and the menu there appears.

Can you please confirm exactly what’s missing for you? It would also help if you can take a screen shot of what you see and upload it to your media library at My Site ->Media for me.
