Hi @healthylivinghippie, actually you should get emails at both addresses.
When you try to change the email address at WordPress.com, the old email address will get a heads up about the address change. The subject line will say something like “Email Address Update Requested”
The new email address will also get a note from us. That one will get a confirmation link, with the subject line “New Email Address” . You’ll need to click the link for the change to take effect. That way folks don’t accidentally change their email address to one that belongs to someone else.
Want to check both addresses to see if you’ve got those emails? I have confirmed that we’ve sent emails to the new address, so if you’re not seeing those, we’ll want to troubleshoot that. You’ll want to be sure the address on file works in case you need help with your account, too.

Oh, I did just notice as well that the site you mentioned isn’t hosted here.
If you’re changing your email address through wp-admin, your own server will send the email out. If you’re not getting that, please get in touch with your host.

Hi Csonnek
I am having a similar issue with changing the admin email address on a website with WordPress.
The email there now is guy who is based in Ukriane and I have tried to change his email to mine. Every time I add my email in the section nothing happens – I am supposed to get an email so I can confirm the change but nothing ever happensAt present, it does say that “There is a pending change of the admin email to (email visible only to moderators and staff)”. but I have not seen any emails from WordPress.com.
The site that this relates to is http://www.friendsofstlucia.org
Many thanks for any help.

Hi Mat,
Your site also isn’t hosted on WordPress.com, so we have no control over that. The admin email for your site is stored in your site’s database on your hosting provider’s servers. The email change confirmation emails is being sent from your site itself using the
wp_mail()function built into the WordPress software. It’s not sent form our servers, as it’s not for a WordPress.com username account. Please contact support at your hosting provider for help with this, or else you can ask the WordPress.org community for advice in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
