Admin email change option not visible in settings – general
-
Hi,
I need to change the email address for admin to our info@domain instead of my personal account as we are missing important messages via our feedback forms (which manage our membership applications and questions). Under Settings – General I do not see the option to change this. Is this because we do not have a business or premium account?
It is imperative this is changed. As a democratic members association I cannot be the one who receives all the emails for membership and such, this must be seen by the board members who are also connected to the info@domain email address. Please assist in updating this information so our website functions as intended on WordPress. Many thanks,
Adam

Hi @swedishrangers,
I completely understand how important it is for your organization to ensure membership-related emails are seen by the appropriate board members.
To clarify, changing the administration email address (used for critical site notifications, feedback form submissions, and membership queries) is available regardless of whether you’re on a Free, Personal, Premium, or Business plan. The reason you may not see the option could be due to how your site is set up or due to role permissions.
Could you please try clearing your browser cache, then sign out of your account and log back in? This often helps resolve such issues.
Let me give you the instructions for general usage.
Here’s how you can change the site admin email address:
- Log into your WordPress.com account and go to your Dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings > General.
- Locate the Administration Email Address field (usually near the top).
- Enter your shared email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)), then save changes.
Are you sure you are still not able to see this section as per this image?

If you do not see the email field in Settings > General, it’s possible your site is connected through a different platform (like a third-party host) or you’re not logged in as the site owner or admin.
If that’s the case, could you kindly confirm:
- Whether it’s hosted on WordPress.com or via a separate host using the WordPress software
- Your current user role (Administrator, Editor, etc.)
Let me know if this resolves the issue. If not, we can delve deeper into the issue to resolve this for you.
Regards,
SK.

Hi there!
I understand you want to change the administration email address, and I’m here to help guide you.I can confirm that your site, swedish-rangers.se, is hosted on WordPress.com, and your site is not currently on a Business plan. Please note that changing the administration email address is only available on the Business plan or higher.

Hi,
I managed to change the email address despite the need for upgrade by upgrading my accounts email under my profile. However, I now am getting email to an account I don’t want it to go to and cannot get it to go to my registered email under this profile ie info@domain account.
In my opinion to use WP as a provider for our organisation to receive email notification is a rather basic feature and I do not see how a business account is necessary. If you could please assist in getting the site to point to the right email address we would be very appreciative.

Hi @swedishrangers,
Thanks for the clarification — it sounds like there may have been a bit of miscommunication earlier.
Just to confirm, are you referring to the email address that receives notifications from your site’s forms? If so, you can update the recipient email directly in the form settings, and this is available on all plans. Here’s how:
👉 Change form notification emailOn the other hand, if you’re looking to change the email address associated with your site/account, you can do that from your Account Settings.
Check this guide for reference: Change Your Email AddressLet me know if you were referring to that or something else.
