Admin number limitation
-
Is there any way to increase the number of admins in our blog? I think there is a certain limit. Could we go beyond that limit?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi. The support documentation doesn’t say how many per role are allowed:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/However, they do say (with good reason) that “Only one administrator per blog is recommended!”
May I ask why you need so many administrators?
-
Make the thundering heard Editors – an editor can do most everything EXCEPT delete the blog – there have been several blogs that have been deleted by upset Admins on the way out the door.
-
I have to agree with aireodyssey and auxclass. Keep just yourself as the admin and set everyone else as editors.
-
we believe in equality, strict equality and we write about political news, views etc so we want to have all of us the same role privileges etc…
we back up frequently so even if anyone would do something stupid we would not lose the content… -
But, if one of them deletes the blog, then that URL that you are using is gone forever (unless you have your own domain name). Even if you have a full backup, and you have your own domain name, if someone deletes the underlying wordpress blog it is going to take days to get it back up and running since you have to get staff to switch the domain mapping over to a new wordpress.COM blog and then remap it.
Having been a volunteer in these forums for just short of 4 years I’ve seen the best of friends and families come to blows over a blog and seen them deleted or severely ransacked.
This is just friendly advice and something to think about. You are free to do as you wish, but know that “stuff” can and usually *does* happen.
-
One other note, if staff does have a limit on the number of admins that can be on a blog, the likelihood of them lifting that restriction is absolutely zero.
-
Ι would like to know which is this number… the maximum number of admins in a wordpress.com blog.
-
No one has ever said and as far as I know there is, or was no limits on users you can add. I was jus saying that if there IS a limit, it isn’t likely to be increased. No one know if there is an actual limit except for staff and you will have to contact them directly after they get back on January 3.
-
AFAIK there are no limits to the number of authors/editors/admins you can have on your public blog.
-
OK-having said all that, I’m perhaps a little confused about why a person whose username is linked to a blogspot blog is asking about this in the WordPress.com forums. Just saying…
-
confused must be your middle name dear cause my username is linked to 3 different wordpress blogs as well…
thank you guys…
-
Your j4nus username here in the forums is linked to http://asy-lo.blogspot.com/ . That is what Jennifer is referring to. Click on your username and see for yourself.
-
To add to what thesacredpath said, you may want to follow step 2 here and change the address to one of your WordPress.COM blogs:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/7-things-to-know-before-posting-in-wordpresscom-forums?replies=1
Or, when you ask your question, specify which blog you are referring to. It will help volunteers give you accurate advice in the future and avoid any future “confusion”. -
@j4nus sorry, dear, must have left my superspecs in the other room because the only blog I could see at the time you posted your question is the one linked to your username, i.e. http://asy-lo.blogspot.com/, which until WordPress.com buys out Blogger, is still not hosted on WordPress.com.
Good to know you are in the right place and got the help you needed. Cheers!
-
this is weird cause I linked my username with a wordpress blog… and I have a wordpress account as well and I am logged in. How can it show me as a blogger member?
-
In your dashboard under users > personal setting (near the bottom), you have entered the blogger URL under website. You can go there and change it.
-
Don’t worry, it’s a pretty common mistake. It’s kind of a bug when people set up their profiles when they first sign up it doesn’t update their URL when the blog is ready.
