  Hi, I’ve just reinstalled wordpress on hostgator to recommence building my website.
  Ive set it up previously and haven’t logged in for some time.
  All I now get when clicking on the admin link is my webpage blank with a few affiliate links with no option to log into the control panel

  It sounds like you’re trying to log into a self-hosted WordPress.org website. This is different from a WordPress.com website.
