Admin Portal Locked Out

  • Unknown's avatar

Whenever I go to login into the admin portal: I can’t reset the password. When I supply my email, it says the host has disabled the mail function. It’s like his email is unattached from the admin account.

I have tried so far: disabling all plugins, changing my normal login password, logging the admin portal via my regular email, etc. and even trying an array of what the password should be. I’m 100% locked out of it, so right now my site is halfway defunct because I can’t customize it.

I have tried finding a way to reach WordPress, but so far no luck. Right now, I desperately need help because my site won’t recognize me as the admin but I’m the domain purchaser/owner/creator. I don’t know how this happened. Any help is appericiated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @toytographer,

You’re using your own self-hosted copy of WordPress through Bluehost. It’s quite different from a site that is on our servers.

And since your site is not here on our servers, we don’t have access to help you regain access. But I may be able to point you in the right direction.

First contact Bluehost to be sure you have backups and can access the hosting side of your site, then read all of these these instructions from WordPress.org to determine which method you want to use to regain access to your installation:

If you need more help, you’ll want to use the forums over at https://wordpress.org/support (for self-hosted sites). Cheers!
